Post Impressionism

Post Impressionism began in the late 1880s. The post impression movement served as a bridge between Impressionism and Abstraction because artists were growing tired of Impressionism's focus on the look of the artwork. The Post Impressionists wanted to focus more on the themes of the art. Georges Seurat led the movement, developing such techniques as pointillism to create the strong contrasts of color Post Impressionism became known for.
